Evans signs pro contract

28 April 2016

TOWN are delighted to announce that Jake Evans has put pen to paper on a professional contract with the club.

The young midfielder was recently offered a deal at SN1 at the conclusion of his scholar contract after coming through the academy system at the County Ground and has been a regular in Scott Lindsey's Under-18s side this term.

“I’m very happy,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk “I’ve been at the club a long time - since I was ten. I’ve come through the academy and known everyone and worked hard. I’m a local lad so it’s a good thing for me. A lot of people know me through playing for Swindon so hopefully I can get in and around the first team next year and show what I’m about.”

“I’m more of an attacking midfielder so in our first team it would be easy to compare myself to someone like Michael Doughty – I like getting on the ball, driving with it and making things happen. I always like to work hard and do my bit for the team.

“I’ll come back (after the summer) raring to go. I know what the club expect of me, I know I’m going to be one of the youngest ones there so I’ll see how it goes.”

Seamus Brady, the club's Sporting Director added: "It's great to see another young player off the 'production line' and into the first team here at Swindon Town.

"Jake is an exciting young prospect and we look forward to seeing what he can do next season."
