Doughty signs season-long loan

5 August 2016

SWINDON Town have signed Michael Doughty on a season-long loan from Queens Park Rangers.

The midfielder spent time on loan at SN1 last season, making 20 appearances and scoring five goals.

Speaking to swindontownfc.co.uk shortly after signing, the QPR loanee says that he is looking forward to spending the 2016/17 campaign in Wiltshire.

"I'm delighted," he said. "To now know what I'm going to be doing for the season and the opportunity to work with Luke (Williams) and Ross (Embleton) and the boys here was a really good one. I really enjoyed my time here the last five or six months of last season and I'm just looking to hopefully be as successful as I can this season.

"Knowing the set up and knowing the quality of the coaching and the players was a big thing for me. Now I've signed for the season I know where im going to be and I can really get my head down and focus."

"I did (feel like I haven't been away). There were a few improvements to the changing room which was a nice surprise and it's great to see everyone here. Part of the reason why I felt like I could produce a good level of performance last season was the environment and the people as well. It's been quite an easy transition."

On Town's season opener with Coventry City tomorrow afternoon (KO 3pm), he added: "Like most games this season it's going to be a tough game against good opposition. They’re obviously a side that like to play an attractive style of football and it's well-documented that Swindon do that too. For the neutral it will be a good game and we’ll be doing everything we can to win it."
