Murray Can't Wait To Get Started With Town

31 August 2016

Swindon Town’s latest recruit Sean Murray was delighted to have secured a Deadline Day move to SN1 and can’t wait to begin his Robins career.

The attacking midfielder has put pen to paper on a one-year deal at the County Ground, with the option of a second-year, having joined on a free transfer from Premier League outfit, Watford earlier today.

And Murray, who has also represented the Republic of Ireland at U17, U19 and U21 level, told STFC PlayerHD that he’s thrilled to be a Red and is itching to get going with his new club.

“I’m really happy,” he said.

“Being at Watford I haven’t really played too much and I really wanted to get out and just play some football.

“I’ve seen Swindon play a few times and the way they play football is the way I would like to play, so it is really great that I could get it sorted and come here.

“I like the way they play and it will suit me down to the ground so I’m very happy.

“I’ve played a few games in the Championship but I’m still quite young and I’ve still got a lot of developing to do, so coming to a club like this will benefit me.”

Murray is regarded as a creative force who can both score and create goals, and he’s hoping to perfect that area of his game during his time at SN1.

“I got on the ball in and around the box and scored a few goals but I just like to keep the ball moving and create some chances for the team,” the midfielder continued.

“The more games I play the more I’ll progress and as a team we’ll get better at doing that – I’m really excited.

“The aim for this season is to get promoted so If I can help towards that then I’ll be over the moon.”

Finally, Murray is now looking forward to training with his new team-mates for the very first time and is hoping to be involved against Peterborough United on Saturday (12.15pm KO).

“I just want to hit the ground running and have a good start to my career here,” he added.

“If the manager gives me my chance to play on Saturday then I’ll be looking forward to it.”
