Iandolo Looks Ahead To Luton Test

2 December 2016

Having featured heavily in the Checkatrade Trophy so far this season, Ellis Iandolo is a big fan of the new format and feels it has aided his personal development as a player.

The talented attacker has enjoyed a campaign to remember so far and has impressed in this competition in particular and is now looking to kick-on against Luton Town next Tuesday as Town look to move a step closer to Wembley.

“Individually it has been a massive part of my season because I’ve started every game bar one and it is good to get a lot of game time,” he said.

“To have a good run in the cup has been good and it is good for the confidence of the team too. It has been good all round.

“It is a great tournament for the young players coming through. It is a good chance to see how we measure up against some of the boys from the top clubs as well so it is a trophy that gives young players a lot of confidence to go into the league games and test themselves.

“What player doesn’t want to play at Wembley so it is a reward that spurs you on to try and go as far as you can in the competition.”

Luton Town are going well in League Two so far this term and Iandolo is expecting a tough test against the Hatters on Tuesday.

“I know Luton like to play football so it will be a tough test, he added.

“I don’t know if they will play a similar team to the ones that they’ve played in the trophy before but it will be good for us to test ourselves against a League Two side.

“They will be physical and we will just try to do what we can to get a result.”

And, with Town without a game this weekend, Iandolo revealed what he will be getting up to in his time off.

“It is just going to be a chilled one and I’m going to spend some time with my family,” he said.

“My mum and dad have cancelled a weekend away in London because they knew I would be coming back so it will be nice to spend some time with them and the big family I’ve got at home.

“It is too early for Christmas shopping for me though – I leave that all until the last minute!”
