Jones - MK Dons Clash A Must-Win

29 December 2016

Town defender Lloyd Jones wants to put the defeat to Millwall behind him now and has described Friday’s clash against MK Dons as a must-win game.

“Millwall on Boxing Day was very disappointing and the difference between us and them was that they took their chances and we didn’t,” he said.

“We had two clear-cut chances but we didn’t take them and Lee Gregory and Steve Morison upfront for them are two experienced pros and they were tough to handle, especially in the air.

“We haven’t had good results recently and we need to sort that out. Hopefully we can change that on Friday and go on a run.

“It has been the same all season and we’ve dominated possession in most games, but possession is nothing if you aren’t getting enough goals.

“MK Dons will be a difficult place to go but they are in a similar situation to us so it is a big game Friday and three points will come in very handy.

“It is a game we need to win."

Jones has also picked out his personal highlight from 2016 with the New Year now just a few days away.

“My highlight has probably been just to get back playing,” he added.

“I hated being out for the whole of last year with an injury and it was quite depressing, so I’m happy to be back.

“This is my longest run of games now so I just want to stay injury free and step it up in 2017.

“I’m really enjoying it here. I really like the management staff, I get on with all the boys and I’m really enjoying my football even though the results haven’t been great.”
