Town Head Coach Luke Williams has given an injury update on various members of his squad ahead of tomorrow’s game against Fleetwood Town (3pm Kick-Off) at The County Ground…
ON YASER KASIM:
“He’s getting closer all the time and he’s training fully so he shouldn’t be too long.
“There is a chance he could feature tomorrow.”
ON JON OBIKA:
“He headed a ball in training and did something to his neck, I’m not sure whether he trapped a nerve or what have you, and he was struggling to loosen it up.
“It just seems to have gone into a spasm and you would expect that sort of thing to wear off fairly quickly but it seems to be hanging about a bit longer than we would like.
“We’ll have to see what happens with that but he’s got a chance for tomorrow.”
ON JAMES BROPHY:
“He’s getting closer but he’s still a bit of a way off at the moment.”
ON MICHAEL DOUGHTY:
“He has got some sort of gastric problem in his throat which stopped him from eating properly in the build-up to the Sheffield United game and he was struggling to sleep and had no energy at all.
“I think it showed with a very out of character performance in the first-half, but he’s been training and feeling more like himself, so hopefully he’s got a good chance of being back on song tomorrow.
“It has been terrible and I don’t think I would have believed anybody if they would have told me Michael would be out for eight weeks near to the beginning of the season with illness.
“That was a huge blow but the sooner we can get him back on the pitch fully fit and healthy, the better.
“Michael is the most influential around the goals and up until the point he was taken ill he was involved in every single goal that we had scored and to lose both him and Nathan Thompson at the same time has been very difficult.”
