Town To Field Strong Side Against Cheltenham In Central League Clash

20 December 2016

Town First-Team Coach Ross Embleton has confirmed that he will be naming a strong side for today’s Central League game against Cheltenham Town.

The Reds’ Development squad will feature a number of first-team players this afternoon (1pm Kick-Off), with the game taking place at Swindon Supermarine’s Webbswood Stadium.

“As always there is a variation as to the plus points of the game. The young youth team players that are involved have got an opportunity to step up and play in-front of first-team staff to stake a claim for the next phase of their career,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“There are one or two of the young pros that will get more game time and more experience, the likes of Will Henry, Tom Smith and Jake Evans.

“You’ve then got the more established pros who are getting some minutes and an opportunity to get more fitness in the bank so they are hopefully ready when they need to step up into the first-team.

“Will Henry will be involved today as are Tom Smith and Jake Evans, Conor Thomas will get some minutes, Sean Murray will play as will Nathan Delfouneso and the likes of Jordan Young and Rhys Sharpe will get the opportunity to get some minutes today.”

Embleton is also looking forward to playing closer to home this afternoon and has thanked Swindon Supermarine for allowing Town the use of their facilities.

“It is nice and we have had long old trips to Peterborough, Exeter and Wimbledon in the Central League so far,” he continued.

“Luke Williams will be able to get to the game, Mike Cooper will be able to participate in the warm-up and look after the boys on that front and Alex Seager will be able to film the game, so it is all done on our terms.

“It is much more comfortable for us and I would like to thank Swindon Supermarine for allowing us to use their facility today.

“They’ve put a lot of money and finance into their ground recently and have just installed new changing rooms, so we’re really looking forward to playing there.”
