The midfielder agreed when he was asked whether the Cards will provide a different kind of test to the ones Town have faced so far this pre-season.
“For sure,” he said. “It will be good for Johnny (Goddard) to go back and have his send-off but it’s another game we’ll go and look to win even though it’s a pre-season friendly. We’ll look to right the wrongs from the previous game against Reading.
“It (Reading) was definitely more of a test and I think the boys enjoyed that. It’s a time to get the rustiness out of the way. Obviously it was disappointing but we did put in a good performance. It’s a time to learn from these defeats.”
Reflecting on the clash with the Royals, Rodgers assessed Town's performance at SN1 and highlighted the positives in defeat.
"We had a lot of chances," he said. "We didn’t start too great but I think off the ball we were good but we weren’t too great on the ball which we like to be. I think the attitude was spot on. We grew into the game and created very good chances and that has been the positive throughout the pre-season campaign so far: we have been creating clear-cut chances."
