LV: Can't wait to be out there

19 July 2016

LAWRENCE Vigouroux is looking forward to stepping onto the County Ground turf once again after sealing a permanent return to Wiltshire during the off-season.

Speaking to swindontownfc.co.uk, the former Liverpool man admits that today's friendly with Reading at SN1 will be a stern test for the squad.

"We’re playing a team that’s a step up in class to what we’ve faced so far," he said. "I think it will be a good game for the fans to watch and it will be nice personally to step back out at the County Ground which is what I wanted, so I'm really happy about that.

"You want to go out to win but it's more about getting minutes and getting time to get used to the players you're playing with. We have some new faces in and they need to learn how to play the way we want to play. It will be a good test and I'm happy we’re stepping it up. I can't wait to be out there."

Speaking after Town's return from the pre-season trip to Ireland, the stopper says that the time away was useful.

"It was really good," he continued. "We trained really intensely. The manager put his ideas forward and we took it on board and showed that in two positive results against two sides that are in the middle of their season. It was tough but it's part of pre-season. Now we’re just building up to the opening day of the season against Coventry."

Town take on the Royals at the County Ground this evening (KO 7.45pm). Click here for ticket details.
