TOWN rounded off their 2016/17 pre-season preparations with a 2-1 defeat at Yeovil Town.
Tom Eaves had given the home side a first-half lead before Jon Obika drew the visitors level moments later. After the break, Otis Khan netted the winning goal.
Luke Williams made two changes to the side that had drawn with Swansea City in midweek. In came Ellis Iandolo and Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill to replace Anton Rodgers and Raphael Rossi-Branco who dropped out of the matchday squad altogether. Second-year scholar, Scott Twine was handed a place among the substitutes.
The hosts were on the front foot from the off and Lawrence Vigouroux had to be alert to smother Otis Khan’s effort after the Yeovil man had beaten the Town backline. The Town stopper was also called into action to deny Dolan shortly afterwards.
After a fast-paced opening quarter and with just under twenty minutes on the clock, the hosts took the lead when Tom Eaves found the back of the net with a header. Almost immediately, the Town were level when Jon Obika converted Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill’s cutback.
James Brophy headed over for the visitors before Dawson fired wide for the Glovers.
As half time drew nearer, Eaves almost returned the favour for Ryan Hedges, providing a cross for the latter but Vigouroux made a fine save to keep out the winger’s effort.
At the start of the second half, Obika did well to fashion a shooting opportunity all by himself but couldn’t hit the target with his eventual effort on goal. Yaser Kasim then lined up a free-kick that whistled narrowly over as Town looked to take the lead at Huish Park.
However, it was the hosts who re-took midway through the half when Hedges, who had teed up the first for the Glovers, turned provider for Otis Khan to find the back of the net - a goal which proved to be the difference between the two sides.
