Town in Ireland: Barry on team bonding

12 July 2016

BRAD Barry believes that the experience of going on tour to Ireland will prove to be a valuable opportunity for the Town squad to bond as they continue their preparations for the 2016/17 campaign.

“It’s like home really,” he told STFC PlayerHD at Swindon’s training base. “It’s nice to be out of the country just us lads. (It’s) definitely (a good chance for us to bond). I’m rooming with (James) Brophy – I’m used to him now, he’s a good lad.”

The first part of day one’s training session saw the squad put through their paces by Sports Scientist, Michael Cooper and Barry says that the squad are already seeing the benefits of their fitness work.

“Its benefiting us,” he said. “He (Cooper) is working us hard which is good. It’s what we want because that’s the way we want to play.”

Finally, with Town due to play the first match of the tour against Shelbourne FC this evening, the full-back added that it would be a good experience for the younger members of the squad.

“It’s different surroundings playing an Irish side," he continued. "It will be a good experience especially for the young lads.”
