JSW: Defensive unit has been excellent

24 March 2016

JAMIE Sendles-White has hailed his teammates’ contribution in helping him settle in to the Town defensive unit.

After a clean-sheet at Coventry City last weekend, the former Queens Park Rangers man was pleased with the shut-out at the Ricoh.

“They’ve been excellent,” he said of his fellow defenders. “Having them behind me and talking me through games and settle in. Nath (Thompson) is obviously the skipper so he’s been great helping settle in.

“That’s our main job (clean sheets). If we can keep clean sheets we’ve got players in the team that are going to score goals so hopefully that’s going to lead to a lot more wins."

Swindon welcome promotion-chasing Wigan Athletic to the County Ground on Friday afternoon with the clash set to be televised live on Sky Sports. The defender added that Town must focus on the task in hand against the Latics.

“We’ve just got to get our heads right,” he said. “We’ve got players in our team that can score goals so we’ll be trying our best. There’s no doubt Wigan are a top team. We've got our game plan so we'll see how it goes.”

Finally, Sendles-White reflected on his call-up to the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad for their forthcoming fixture with Scotland and declared he was looking forward to meeting up with his international teammates and managment, including Town legend, Kevin Horlock who is part of the coaching set-up.

"It will be nice to see the boys again," he said. "We've got a game on Tuesday against Scotland so it will be good to get a couple of days' training in beforehand."
