LW: We wanted to entertain

8 May 2016

LUKE Williams spoke to the media after Town rounded off 2015/16 with a 3-0 win over Shrewsbury.

On the win...
We wanted to finish the season strong and give the fans a taste of how we want to play. I'm pleased with the win because we wanted to entertain our supporters at the end of a tough season.

On Jordan Young...
Bringing Jordan into a side that's very strong where people are going to find him more, you can see a glimpse of what we've been talking about. It was a very good first impression from Jake Evans too. The players at the top end that can keep their calm around the box and make the correct contact - they're few and far between. Jordan has shown he can do that at youth team level and now he's shown he can do that at first team level.

On Will Henry...
He's shown us a bit of everything he can do - distrubute properly, one-on-one saves, organising his box. He also showed bravery and even ran the entire length of the pitch to celebrate (with Jordan Young). We’ve got to make sure we look after him and nurture him.

On lessons learned in 2015/16...
What we’ve seen this season, with the strongest side, we’ve been extremely good. Then we’ve gone on a run of results where we’ve been difficult to play against. We got to within four points of the Play-Offs. We need to make sure players fighting for a place are strong and there's not much of a difference between first choice and second choice. We need that quality throughout the squad. We need to make sure we’ve got a clear idea of exactly how we want the team to play and we have to make sure every player in the club understands the style of play and what is expected so we don’t waver and we don’t start to second guess ourselves or start to feel pressure. We have a clear way of playing and expectation level so when people come in they're ready to come in. If the squad is not ready and well-versed then you can suffer from that.
