INJURY UPDATE: Latest On Jones, Barry And Doughty

3 October 2016

Town First-Team Coach Ross Embleton sat down with swindontownfc.co.uk earlier today to provide an update on the fitness of Lloyd Jones, Brad Barry and Michael Doughty…

ON LLOYD JONES:

“Lloyd’s hip injury is something he has suffered with previously when he was back at Liverpool, so it is something we’re assessing throughout the week.

“There’s not a huge amount of pain or discomfort in the area, but that doesn’t always mean that he’s free to play.

“We’ve got to be really careful with the fact that we don’t push him too hard and he breaks down again.

“That is something that we’ve just got to manage and be careful with so as not to add to that or make it any worse.

“We need to make sure he’s capable of training at full pelt before we can even consider risking him in a game, so that will be something that we will certainly look at closely this week.”

ON BRAD BARRY:

“Bradley Barry is a lot closer to training again so he will go through some tests and bits and pieces with regards to being back at the training ground this week.

“We hope that within the next couple of days he’ll be back amongst the group. Then, depending on how much fitness Bradley has lost, we’ll see how much time it takes for him to get closer to being back in the squad again.”

ON MICHAEL DOUGHTY:

"First and foremost, it is about Michael’s health more than him being back in and amongst it as a footballer. That’s what everyone is interested in and that’s what everyone wants to see, but ultimately you have to worry about his welfare and he went through a lot with that illness.

“To hear that he’s going to be back in the building today will give everybody a lift and, hopefully, once the Physio spends some time with him today we’ll have an understanding of just how close Michael is to being back in amongst it again.”
