Murray Confident Of Beating The Saddlers

22 October 2016

Town midfielder Sean Murray is targeting a second successive victory at The County Ground today with Walsall the visitors (3pm Kick-Off).

There is an air of confidence around SN1 at the moment following the Reds’ superb 3-0 victory against in-form Rochdale on Tuesday night, with Darnell Furlong, Nathan Delfouneso and Nathan Thompson all on the scoresheet.

A win today could well fire Town way up the Sky Bet League One table and Murray is determined to round off a brilliant week on an almighty high.

“It is important not to take the foot off the pedal after the last game and keep going forward,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“The league is so tight at the moment so we need to win games like this to push us back up and if we take the confidence from the Rochdale game and move forward, then I think we’ve got a really good chance to beat Walsall.

“At the moment they aren’t the team they were last year so we need to take advantage of that.

“If we press them quite high up the pitch then they are going to look to go forward quite early but our four in defence can deal with that and they did that really well against AFC Wimbledon and against Rochdale.

“If we press from the front then we’ll get our chances when we get on the ball.

“They have a good player in Erhun Oztumer, he’s scored a few goals and I’ve seen him play before and he’s decent.

“If we switch things up with some shorter passes and some longer passes then teams won’t be able to handle us.”

Murray was thrilled with Town’s impressive 3-0 success against Rochdale in midweek, and the attacking midfielder was also happy to contribute to the cause with an assist.

“It was definitely coming and we put our chances away against Rochdale,” he added.

“Everyone wanted to win for our home fans and everyone worked their socks off, so it was brilliant.

“I wasn’t sure if Darnell Furlong was offside or not but luckily the left-back played him onside and it was good to get another assist.

“It was nice to get back involved.”
