Delfouneso Looking To Get Off The Mark Against Posh

3 September 2016

Town striker Nathan Delfouneso feels he is reaching the peak of his powers as he bids to open his account for the club this weekend.

After putting pen to paper on a one-year deal at SN1 midway through August, the former England U21 international has made two outings for the Robins.

And while he has yet to find the back of the net for his new club, the 25-year-old has impressed for Town and looked in dangerous form during last weekend’s abandoned game with Bristol Rovers.

Delfouneso is now keen to build on that hugely encouraging display against Peterborough United today (12.15pm Kick-Off), and would love nothing better than to get off the mark for Town live on TV.

“That would be great. It would be nice (to score) on Sky but I know the goals will come – I’m very confident of that,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“I believe there will be a game where it just clicks for everyone and the goals go flying in.

“It would be great if it happened today but if not then we would be happy to go and take a 1-0 victory at the same time.

“But on a personal note I feel the goals will come. I’m getting sharper and sharper, I’m feeling more lively and a lot fitter.

“I believe the goals will come and I know the goals will come for the rest of the strikers. We have Jon (Obika) coming back so we will have a good few options and it will be good competition.

“I’m sure we will all be scoring goals, especially with how we play, we will create chances and the guys will take them.”

Delfouneso also gave his verdict on Deadline Day arrival, Sean Murray and reckons the former Watford man will only add to Town’s abundance of attacking riches.

“I knew Sean from when he was playing at Watford and he’s a good player,” he added.

“He’s another great option that we’ve got and the number of attacking options we’ve got is healthy for the team and healthy for everyone fighting to get into those positions.

“It is good for everyone and we’re strong all round and I feel we can really push forward together.”
