Thomas - All The Lads Are Raring To Go

10 September 2016

Town Midfielder Conor Thomas feels he and his team-mates are more than ready for today’s Derby Day showdown with Oxford United and is determined to bring the three points back to SN1.

It promises to be an electric atmosphere at the Kassam Stadium this afternoon (3pm Kick-Off) as the two sides prepare to lock horns on the domestic front for the first time since March 2012.

Town haven’t got the better of their rivals since 2001 which only adds extra spice to today’s encounter.

And Thomas, despite having not played in this fixture before, knows full well the importance of this afternoon’s game and is desperate to help the Robins claim all three points.

“We’ve had a good week’s training and all the lads are buzzing and really excited just to get the game underway,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.

“We know it’s going to be a really good atmosphere and we’ll obviously have the Swindon fans behind us, so all the lads are just raring to go and looking forward to kick-off now.

“You want to play in the games where the fans are buzzing for it, the atmosphere is hostile away from home and as a team you are going behind enemy lines.

“We’ll be doing everything we can to get the three points.

“You want to play in the biggest games with the best atmosphere, so this is certainly up there for us.

“We know it is a derby, we know there is more on the line than usual and we’ll be doing everything for the fans to get the three points.

“But, ultimately, at the end of the day we have to do what we can to get the three points so we have to make sure we’ve got calm heads, we control the game when we can and just play our normal game.

“But at the same time we are all aware of how big a game it is so we’ll be looking to get the right balance.”
