Update On Michael Doughty

17 September 2016

Town can confirm that Michael Doughty is currently recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery after being taken ill with appendicitis last week.

The midfielder has been in fine form for the Reds so far this season having helped himself to two goals and three assists.

Having been in quite some discomfort, Doughty was taken into hospital at the tail end of last week and is now recovering following surgery.

“Michael had appendicitis and a complication with his surgery as well unfortunately, so he will probably be sidelined for longer than he would be if it was a run of the mill appendix operation,” Town Head Coach Luke Williams said.

“He was under anaesthetic an hour longer than anticipated and I think at the moment, I believe, the surgeons had to open him up rather than perform keyhole surgery, so it takes a longer time for the body to heal.”

On behalf of everyone at Swindon Town, we would like to wish Michael a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing you back where you belong on the football pitch soon.
