Williams On Barry, Sendles-White And Doughty

23 September 2016

Town Head Coach Luke Williams has provided an update on the fitness of a number of his players ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Oldham Athletic…

On Jamie Sendles-White:

“Jamie has been in and at the moment he needs to wait for the swelling to reduce before he can go in for surgery, but he’s had the surgery explained to him and the action plan for post op as well.

“That is good and it gives him some sort of idea so now it is about icing that knee and trying to draw the swelling out.”

On Michael Doughty:

“Michael is fully committed as always, even from a hospital bed, but I spoke to him yesterday and he’s left the hospital now.

“He will start to recover now."

On Brad Barry:

“Bradley is still struggling with a hamstring complaint so he won’t be available at the moment."

On Jordan Stewart And Jordan Young:

“They are still a way off and just having to try and rehabilitate without pushing too hard. Jordan Stewart suffered a bit of a setback because he maybe did try to push himself too hard, so it is a case of doing everything they possibly can without overdoing it.”

On Squad Togetherness:

“They are a very good group and they are very together. What is pleasing for us as a group is that although we are desperately disappointed to have come off the back of three defeats, we have showed enough, certainly in the last two games, to win without playing particularly well.

“We still had spells in the games where we were very dominant and still created chances to score and go on to win the game, so there is some level of performance to hold on to.

“It is still disappointing, of course, but that is what helps to hold the group together that they can see we’re not a million miles off.”
