Rossi-Branco On AFC Wimbledon Test

13 April 2017

Town defender Raphael Rossi-Branco wants to build on last weekend’s valuable point against MK Dons by recording a much-needed victory against AFC Wimbledon tomorrow (3pm Kick-Off).

The Reds entertain The Dons at The County Ground on Good Friday looking to stretch their unbeaten run to four straight games as they continue to fight for survival.

“We expected to win the game last weekend but MK Dons were a really, really good side and they were probably one of the best sides we have played this season,” Branco said.

“It was easier for them because they had nothing to play for but it was a good point and it was a fair result.

“We need to be clever this weekend and we’ve been working all week on what we need to do to get an early goal to get the confidence during the game.

“If we score first then we’ve got more chance of winning the game and that is what we have tried to do in the last three games and it has worked really well.

“Hopefully we can do that on Friday.

“We just need to worry about us and if we can pick up seven points from the next three games then we could be safe.

“It is in our hands and we need to keep going. If we can get a result on Friday, then hopefully it will be a massive one.”

AFC Wimbledon will be looking to round off their first season in the Sky Bet League One on a high, and Branco is expecting a physical test from The Dons tomorrow.

“We have watched clips and we know how they play. They are more direct so hopefully we can deal with that and get the three points,” he added.

Finally, Raphael has formed a formidable partnership alongside Dion Conroy at the heart of the defence in recent weeks and he was full of praise for the former Chelsea centre-back.

“Dion is a really, really good guy. He can play with the ball, he can play without the ball and playing with him is very good because he helps me out a lot,” he continued.

“He’s got a great future and he can achieve big things in football.”
