Williams Previews MK Dons Test

7 April 2017

Town Head Coach Luke Williams has given his thoughts ahead of tomorrow’s vital showdown with MK Dons at The County Ground (3pm Kick-Off).

“There is a real focus around the place and the players are hopefully stepping up to this challenge in the correct manner and believing that they can win enough games to secure safety,” he said.

“Robbie Neilson has done his job very well and his team have almost undoubtedly secured League One football for next season and he’s earned the right now to start looking at players to build for next year.

“There will be players there that have been knocking on the door for a long time saying that they want to play and they’re ready and better than what he’s got, so now is the obvious time for him to give a player a chance to go and prove it.”

And Williams admitted that he is now starting to pay more attention to other results at the bottom of the Sky Bet League One table.

“It is probably fair to say that I have been watching the other games more keenly than other times in the season,” he added.

“But I’m aware that if we perform to a certain level ourselves and pick up a certain amount of points then everything else will take care of itself.

“I would be lying though if I said that I haven’t been watching the other games more closely.”

Town have joined forces with the Swindon Advertiser to try and #PackTheCG tomorrow and Williams stressed the importance of everyone getting behind the boys.

“The message to the fans is that they will make a positive difference if we help them by giving them something to cheer about,” he continued.

“If they respond to some positive play by us then that will snowball and it will help us to feel more confident and it will help us to believe that we can go and get a win.

“I want to say thank you very much as well from all of the staff and the players because we are so grateful for this campaign and to see people trying to help us in this fight to become safe.

“We’re all very aware of the work that has gone into this and we’re very thankful for that.”
