Swindon Town’s U18’s got their 2017/18 EFL Youth Alliance South West League campaign off to a winning start on Saturday after beating Portsmouth 4-3.
An Elliot Duggan brace coupled with further efforts from Jordan Edwards and Jacob Bancroft made it an opening day to remember for Alan McLoughlin’s side.
Pompey raced into a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Mayes and Casey, but the young Reds rallied back in style to take a 4-2 lead in at the break.
There was only one goal in the second-half and it went the way of the hosts but Town held on to pick up their first three points of the new season.
