Flitcroft Looking To Add Depth On #DeadlineDay

Gaffer Hoping To Be Active Today

31 August 2017

Swindon Town Boss Dave Flitcroft says that the club will be active on Deadline Day as he looks to add depth to his squad.

Today is the final opportunity for clubs across the land to bolster their team before the window slams shut at 11pm.

And Flitcroft is hoping to be busy as he aims to further strengthen the options he has available in all areas of the pitch.

“We’re looking to add depth,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk exclusively.

“We’ve been up and down the country again most of the week speaking to clubs, speaking to agents, meeting players and speaking to players.

“We’ve been everywhere trying to plan for games, trying to recruit and making sure that we have got enough cover for when the window shuts.

“It has been extensive, it has been exhausting and I’m really glad that we are coming to the end of the window so that we can start to really galvanise the group and work with and improve the group.

“The first part of our plan was to upgrade and update the medical side which we’ve done by bringing in Chris Neville.

“We’ve made sure that when we get players in they are coming into a very good environment because obviously once you have recruited it is about keeping players fit, keeping them match ready and keeping them on the training ground available to play.

“That was the first bit and the recruitment is absolutely vital in terms of getting the numbers right and the balance right to allow you to do what you want to do.

“Even though we’ve tried to get a good start, the last eight weeks have been really difficult in terms of trying to recruit and get a team out there that can be successful.

“It is great for all managers now that it is coming to an end and you know where you stand. You don’t have any problems in terms of players wanting to leave and you know exactly what you are dealing with.”
