Flitcroft Out To Reward Travelling Fans

Gaffer Praises Town Support

18 August 2017

Town Boss Dave Flitcroft is determined to reward the travelling fans making the long trip to Morecambe tomorrow with a victory (3pm Kick-Off).

Over 200 Swindon fans are expected to be cheering on the Reds at the Globe Arena, and the Gaffer wants his players to make sure they represent that same commitment and passion on the field.

“The Swindon support since I’ve been here has been fantastic,” he told iFollow STFC exclusively.

“We’ve stopped at service stations and they’ve been there and they seem to be everywhere.

“They love their football, they live for their football and I want to repay them with good quality football and winning football.

“The lads can feel the support and they talk about it being different. I want to give something back to them.

“The support for our first two away games was phenomenal so hopefully we can get up that motorway and give them something to cheer.

“It is a hell of a long way and it costs a lot of money to get up there, pay for a ticket and get back down and we’ve got to respect that.

“I bumped into a supporter in the club shop last week who was saying that his family are going to stay in a hotel and he told me the cost of that.

“They love their football, they live for their football and I want to repay them with good quality football and winning football.

“He was saying what it meant to him and his family and when we win it makes his weekend better.

“It resonates with me because I’m a football person so we’ve got to try and make sure that the players understand that and they understand the away win and how it affects people’s weekend.

“It certainly does from a management point of view and a players’ point of view because they care.

“We’ve just got to make sure that we show that committed performance.

“It is great talking about caring but you have to show it in abundance.”
