INJURY UPDATE: Norris In Contention For Saturday

Striker Could Return Against Exeter City

11 August 2017

Town have been handed a big boost ahead of their home opener tomorrow with Luke Norris primed for a quick return to action.

The forward opened the scoring in the 2-1 win away at Carlisle United last weekend but was forced off minutes later after taking a heavy blow to his shoulder.

It looked to be a rather painful injury but, after receiving positive scan results earlier this week, Norris looks set to play some part against Exeter City at The County Ground on Saturday (3pm Kick-Off).

“We wasn’t expecting or fearing the worst with Luke,” Town Boss Dave Flitcroft told swindontownfc.co.uk exclusively.

“With any injury until you get it scanned and until you get the professionals and the experts to give you their nailed-on opinion, then you are always wary that it could go the distance.

“His shoulder did pop out and go back in again, there was damage on that movement but he’s a tough boy and he wants to get out there and he wants to get back playing.

“He’ll be involved at some stage on Saturday.

“He’s come through it but only because his pain threshold is very high and a lesser person who might have been hiding and doesn’t want to get out there would probably still be nursing that injury for a few weeks.”

John Goddard missed the Carabao Cup defeat to Norwich City in midweek with a foot injury, but the attacker has an outside chance of being involved against Exeter tomorrow after making excellent progress this week.

“Johnny G is another one who’s on the mend and he’s had a brilliant recovery this week,” Flitcroft added.

“We’ve put a lot of intervention into him and a lot of work into him and he’s another one who wants to play tomorrow.

“We’ll give him as much time as we can. We’ll give him until tomorrow and we’ll give the other boys as much time to recover.”
