McDermott On Morecambe Goal And Strong Start

Midfielder Reflects On Last Weekend's Heroics

25 August 2017

Donal McDermott is confident that Town can keep their current good form going, starting against Crawley Town on Saturday (3pm Kick-Off).

The midfielder scored the only goal of the game away at Morecambe last weekend to make it seven points from a possible nine for the Reds, who sit top of the Sky Bet League Two table at this very early stage.

And McDermott reflected on both his superb strike and Town’s strong start to the new season.

“The Manager and Futch (Ben Futcher) have been saying that if we can get on any sort of a run and just keep winning then it will roll on,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk exclusively.

“It has been a great start. It is early doors but hopefully we can keep it going.

“We knew Morecambe last weekend was going to be tough but we dealt with it well and we probably should have got another goal.

“Any League Two game is going to be tough so if we can dig out a few more of those results then I’ll be happy.

“I remember calling for the ball off Purks (Ben Purkiss), I knew I had a bit of space and I just managed to cut inside the defender and luckily it went in.

“I’m buzzing to be back involved and help the team out in any way I can.”

Town now have back-to-back home games and McDermott revealed that confidence is high in and around the club.

“We should be confident going into the next few games and hopefully we can take advantage of the back-to-back home games and get some more points on the board,” he concluded.
