Mullin Raring To Go For New Season

Forward Excited To Get Going Against Carlisle Today

5 August 2017

Paul Mullin is itching to get the new season underway today and he’s targeting a winning start.

Town head to Carlisle United later (3pm Kick-Off) for their first game of the 2017/18 Sky Bet League Two campaign, and the striker wants to help his side lay down an early marker.

“I can’t wait and I’m like a baby at Christmas waiting to open presents,” he told iFollow Town exclusively.

“The season is here now and that’s what we’ve been waiting for since May so I can’t wait.

“From the first day of pre-season the whole aim was to get ready for Carlisle and get ready to win hopefully.

“I played against Carlisle last season and they are a good side. They were in the automatic promotion spots for most of the year and they were unlucky in the Play-Offs not to get to the Final.

“I’m expecting a very hard game on Saturday, it always is against Carlisle and they are a good side but hopefully we can come out on top.

“It is only the first game but it is always nice to get points on the board as early as you can and get as high as you can as early as possible.

“When I came to the club the gaffer outlined his plans for the season and that is obviously to achieve promotion.

“All the lads are on the same wavelength as the gaffer and that’s what we’re going to aim for this season. We’re going to work hard, hopefully get three points on Saturday and take it on from there.”

Mullin enjoyed a fruitful pre-season, bagging a hat-trick against Swindon Supermarine before notching in the 5-0 win against Melksham, and the forward is relishing a potential competitive debut today.

“I just can’t wait to get going now,” he added.

“Pre-season went well personally and for the team as well, but I can’t wait to put the shirt on and get going in real games.”
