Robbo Looking Forward To Home Opener

Defender Looks Ahead To Exeter Test

10 August 2017

Chris Robertson can’t wait to experience home comforts for the first time as a Town player this weekend.

The Reds take on Exeter City in their 2017/18 home opener on Saturday (3pm Kick-Off) following two lengthy away trips to Carlisle United and Norwich City respectively.

And Robertson is keen to make a good first impression in-front of the Town faithful when the Grecians come to SN1.

“It has been a tough week of lots of travel up and down the country so it is good to be at home this weekend,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk exclusively.

“It will be my first home game for Swindon this weekend so we all want to give a performance and hopefully show the fans that the gaffer has made a few good signings.

“Exeter obviously didn’t get promotion last season so they will be looking to put that right this term, so it is going to be another tough game.

“They are going to be up there this season again with the squad they’ve got, so we need to do our best to earn the points and all we can do is concentrate on ourselves, put our game plan in place and hopefully win the game.”

Robertson made his Town debut on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup defeat to Norwich City and it was a moment to savour for the centre-back, who believes there were plenty of positives to take from the performance at Carrow Road.

“I was over the moon to have made my debut,” he added.

“I’ve signed here to play football and get the club promoted.

“We were unlucky with the result but I think we showed that we have enough quality in the squad to progress and do well this season.

“We probably had a 15 or 20-minute spell in the game where we didn’t look great, but apart from that we gave a good account of ourselves and we showed what we can do this season.

“It is still a relatively new squad and we’re still getting to know each other as well, so to show the early signs of working well together is only a positive.”
