BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Stevenage V Swindon Town

Get In The Mood For Today's Game With Our Extensive Guide

2 December 2017

Swindon Town will be looking to progess in the Emirates FA Cup when they take on Stevenage at The Lamex Stadium this a

Dave Flitcroft's side will be looking to advance beyond the Second Round stage for the first time since 2011, while they will also want to return to winning ways following back-to-back defeats.

LAST TIME WE MET:

A Luke Norris brace and an effort from Keshi Anderson were enough to hand The Reds all three points when the two sides did battle in the Sky Bet League Two at The Energy Check County Ground back in September.

TICKET NEWS:

Town fans will be able to buy tickets on the day today, although there will be a £3 price increase.

TOP SCORERS:

STEVENAGE - Matt Godden (8)

SWINDON TOWN - Luke Norris (9)

TEAM NEWS:

STEVENAGE are sweating on the fitness of attacking trio Matty Godden, Danny Newton and Kyle Newton, while Ben Kennedy will miss out.

SWINDON TOWN will be light on numbers yet again with Chris Hussey (groin), Amine Linganzi (hamstring), Donal McDermott (ankle), Timi Elsnik (muscle injury) and Luke Norris (ankle) all ruled out of today's game.

Lawrence Vigouroux, however, returned to full training in the week and could be involved in some capacity today.

A WORD FROM BOTH CAMPS:

Darren Sarll, Stevenage FC Manager: "We are very much trying to create our own history in this competition and The FA Cup can create a real excitement within you.

"I think a lot of games in the competition are weighed up by whether you are the underdog or whether you are favourites.

"I like to think this one is fairly balanced and evenly matched, even though Swindon are probably a bigger club.

"It is a tough game and we all know with the cup it is a one-off and you have just got to try and do your absolute best to get into the next round."

Ben Futcher, Swindon Town Manager: "We're really looking forward to the game.

"Any game is winnable. It is a really tough game but you don't expect anything else in The FA Cup.

"We're going away from home again like we did in the First Round, we'll prepare right like we did for Dartford and hopefully we can get through to the next round.

"We played really well against Stevenage at home but they will be looking for revenge, I suppose, and it is going to be a difficult game.

"It is a really tough tie, they've done well at home this season so we are going to prepare like we do for every away game and we really look forward to it.

"Hopefully we can get this club through to the Third Round.

"We've got to focus on Stevenage, they are a decent side and we know how difficult it is going to be.

"We're focussed on this game and, I know it is a cliche and people don't want to hear it, but we've got to focus on Stevenage and it is going to be a tough game.

"We're all looking forward to it and we're confident we can go there with our away form and win."
