Hylton Looking To Replicate Central League Heroics At First-Team Level

8 February 2017

Jermaine Hylton was thrilled to have helped himself to a glut of goals for the Reserves earlier in the week but is now focused on getting more minutes for the first-team.

The striker has made a number of cameos off the bench in recent weeks and has looked bright, while he showed his quality on Tuesday with four goals in just 45 minutes during the Reds’ 6-1 thumping of AFC Bournemouth in the Central League.

With a number of crunch games in the Sky Bet League One coming up for Town, Hylton is hoping to really kick-on and make a difference for his side.

“It is always nice to score goals and get as many minutes as possible, but this isn’t where it counts so I’m hoping I can replicate that performance at first-team level,” he said.

“As a footballer you want to play as much as you can but you’ve got to take it as it comes.

“All I can do is be ready when I’m selected.

“I’m really quite confident in my ability and I’m sure eventually my quality is going to shine through.

“I’m hoping that is starting to happen and it will continue to happen – I just need to add some goals now.

“The main thing I want to do is play so I’m just hoping I’ll be doing more of that over the next few weeks and hopefully I’ll be able to help us get some points on the board.”
