Henry Glad To Be Back At Work With Town

Keeper Enjoying Life Under New Gaffer

6 July 2017

Will Henry is raring to go for his club after a summer spent impressing his country on the international stage.

The talented stopper was called up to a number of camps by England U19’s in the off-season as Keith Downing’s men prepared for the UEFA U19 European Championships.

Although he wasn’t selected for the final squad, Henry was thankful for the experience and is now hoping to put that to good use as he bids to impress new Town boss Dave Flitcroft.

“To get called up by your country, even if it was just for the training camps, was a fantastic achievement for myself and it is something that I can build on to hopefully have a fantastic season,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk exclusively.

“I achieved more than I thought I would this summer, I got loads of positive feedback from England U19’s and they’ve said that I’m very much on their radar now, so that is a massive thing to take forward.

“I’ve just got to make sure I have a successful season, stay consistent and do well.

“I’ve enjoyed being back, it has been a good first week of training and all the boys are looking sharp and ready to go.

“It has been class under the new gaffer so far and first impressions are very good. I’ve spoken to him a few times and he knows what he wants to do and want he wants to achieve, which is only going to benefit us as players and as a team going forward.

“We’ve only been back for a week but so much work has been put in already and it is amazing to see.

“It has given a positive vibe to everyone and hopefully that will help move us forward and have a successful season.”

Town kick-off their pre-season campaign away at Swindon Supermarine this Saturday (3pm Kick-Off), and Henry is relishing the prospect of getting some minutes in the tank.

“Everyone is itching to start playing again and it will be good to get some minutes under the belt and really kick on from there,” he continued.

“It has always been a good game to play and they are a good team to play in terms of us getting back into our rhythm.”
