Dunne Is A Red!

Tough-Tackling Midfielder Puts Pen To Paper At The CG

Swindon Town are delighted to confirm the signing of James Dunne, who will officially join the club on July 1st.

The midfielder joins the Reds on a free transfer and he has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at The County Ground.

Dunne is a tough-tackling central midfielder who has racked up over 250 professional appearances for the likes of Exeter, Stevenage, St Johnstone, Portsmouth and Cambridge United.

Joining fellow new recruit Chris Robertson at The County Ground, Dunne will add considerable strength and experience to the Town engine room and the 27-year-old can't wait to get going.

“I’m delighted to have signed,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk exclusively.

“I spoke to the gaffer last week and what he plans to do with the club is what attracted me here, so I’m glad to get it over the line.

“Having played against the gaffer’s teams quite a bit and knowing how he wants to get out of this league was the main attraction for me.

“I’ve played at The County Ground quite a few times, I’ve played when it’s been rocking so I’m looking forward to playing here.

“Hopefully we can win the games, get the crowd behind us and get promotion.”

Dunne featured over 52 times for Cambridge in the Sky Bet League Two last term and he went on to explain what Town fans can expect from him.

“I like tackling and getting on the ball and trying to make us play,” he added.

“I can play and get on the ball, but I also like the nastier side of football which is the tackling and getting to the second balls.

“I’m looking forward to it.”
