Thomas Looking Forward To Life Under Flitcroft

23-year-old Has High Hopes For A Successful Season

17 June 2017

Town Midfielder Conor Thomas is confident that the future is bright under new manager Dave Flitcroft.

The former Bury chief filled the hot-seat at The County Ground last week and has already impressed fans with his positive approach.

And Thomas can’t wait to get back to SN1 and start working under Flitcroft as Town look to secure an immediate return to the Sky Bet League One.

“It is a fresh start and the new gaffer sounds really positive,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk exclusively.

“I feel like he will get the fans on board, he’ll get the team playing the right way and as long as everyone works hard and buys into what he is doing, then it will be a successful season for everyone involved.

“It will be nice to meet Dave and get his thoughts on how he wants to play with and without the ball.

“Hopefully it will be a successful season.”

Thomas is currently away on holiday but he’s been putting in the hard graft as he prepares to hit the ground running in pre-season.

“I went to Dubai last year, did some football training and then I did some fitness training after,” he continued.

“I’ve done the same this summer so I’ve been training in the warm weather day in and day out over here so that I’m in good shape for when I come back.

“It will be a new squad when we go back in so it will be nice to meet everyone and get to know everyone.

“Hopefully we’ll form some good relationships over pre-season and become a proper team ready to take everyone on in the league.

“It is a big season and we don’t want to be in League Two for long, so everyone will be pushing in the same direction to get out of the league as soon as possible.

“That starts from day one of pre-season when we walk through the door.”
