INJURY UPDATE: The Latest On Thompson, Gladwin And Kasim

30 March 2017

Town should be able to call on both Nathan Thompson and Ben Gladwin this weekend, despite the pair currently carrying minor knocks.

Gladwin was forced to withdraw from the Starting XI just before kick-off against Millwall last weekend after feeling a sharp pain in his knee, while Thompson was replaced late on in the second-half due to a sore heel.

However, both players have come through training with flying colours this week and will be available for selection away at Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

“Ben Gladwin and Nathan Thompson have trained absolutely fine with no problem,” Town Head Coach Luke Williams said at his pre-match press conference earlier today.

“Nathan has got an ongoing issue that we are going to try and manage between us all, and Ben has suffered a similar type of pain in the knee that he’s had before but he trained very, very well today and yesterday.

“There is the chance that Ben will have to have surgery but it is fair to say that there’s a realistic chance that it can be done at a later date and that Ben will be available to help us out for the remaining fixtures.

“The further away from a game we are then the more Nathan can rest and try to get physical work in the gym without being on that heel.

“But the closer we draw towards games then Nathan is keen to make sure that he’s taking part in full training.”

Meanwhile, Yaser Kasim is a doubt for the weekend with the midfielder currently struggling with a hip problem.

“Yaser has got an ongoing hip problem that has flared up,” Williams added.

“It is something that he’s not had for a while but one movement or one action has caused it to flare up again.”
