PREVIEW: Town V Chesterfield

3 March 2017

Town will be looking to maintain their current fine form when they host Chesterfield in another must-win clash at The County Ground on Saturday (3pm Kick-Off).

Luke Williams’ side are finding form at just the right time and they have won their last two outings on the bounce while they are now unbeaten in three.

They came from behind to beat Gillingham 3-1 on Tuesday evening thanks to goals from Rohan Ince, Jon Obika and Raphael Rossi-Branco.

Chesterfield, on the other hand, were not in action in midweek but were thumped 4-0 by Oxford United last weekend.

STAT ATTACK:

Town and Chesterfield have done battle on just 48 occasions in all competitions and the Reds are able to boast the better head-to-head record with 24 wins to their name, compared to The Spireites’ 17.

TEAM NEWS:

TOWN - The Reds have been handed a sizeable boost ahead of tomorrow’s game with Lloyd Jones available for selection again after the defender missed Tuesday’s success over Gillingham with a minor hamstring injury.

Midfielder Yaser Kasim will miss out through illness while on-loan Chelsea defender Fankaty Dabo will continue to be sidelined with a hamstring concern.

However, Town have no fresh injury concerns and Jamie Sendles-White remains the only long-term absentee.

CHESTERFIELD - Dion Donohue and Jon Nolan both look set to return tomorrow after the duo shook off hamstring injuries during the week.

Spireites Boss Gary Caldwell has no other injury concerns ahead of tomorrow’s big fixture at SN1.

A WORD FROM BOTH CAMPS:

Luke Williams, Swindon Town Head Coach: “I didn’t expect to see Chesterfield where they are in the table and I was very impressed with Gary Caldwell’s Wigan team last season.

“I would like to think that the players aren’t silly enough to think anything has been achieved - it hasn’t. There’s more work to do.”

Gary Caldwell, Chesterfield Manager: “I think that Swindon are always a really difficult team to prepare to play against.

“The way they play is very expansive - they ask you a lot of questions both defensively and in how you want to press them.

“But for me it’s always an exciting game to prepare for and I enjoy playing against them because they play a really attractive style of football.”
