PREVIEW: Town V Sheffield United

14 March 2017

Town will be looking to bounce back in the Sky Bet League One when they host Sheffield United at The County Ground tonight.

The league leaders are the visitors to SN1 later (7.45pm Kick-Off) and the Reds will be on the hunt for a vital three points.

Luke Williams’ side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Port Vale on Saturday while The Blades beat Oxford a week ago after having the weekend off.

A Mark Duffy brace and further efforts from Paul Coutts and Caolan Lavery guided United to a 4-0 success against Town back in December 2016 when these two sides last met.

STAT ATTACK:

Town and Sheffield United have done battle on 38 occasions in all competitions and The Blades are able to boast the better head-to-head record with 16 wins to their name, compared to the Robins’ 12.

Lawrence Vigouroux is also fit despite playing the last few weeks with a broken thumb.

SHEFFIELD UNITED - Mark Duffy (ankle) and Jake Wright (facial) have both trained ahead of tonight’s game and could feature against Town. Blades’ Boss Chris Wilder has plenty of options at his disposal and could hand starts to the likes of Samir Carruthers and Caolan Lavery.

A WORD FROM BOTH CAMPS:

Luke Williams, Swindon Town Head Coach: “I know that Sheffield United are a very good team, they’ve got a good manager and staff and I was very impressed when we went there earlier in the season.

“They have got quality and experience in every single position and they’ve got power, pace and goals.

“They’re a complete team.

“The players are aware of them and we’ve watched footage of Sheffield United. We need to get our own house in order and focus on us.”

Chris Wilder, Sheffield United Manager: “Swindon are rebuilding and they are a different team to the one we played in December.

“They have brought in some very technical players and they are very open and very attacking.

“Our mentality has to be spot on.”
