Town Head Coach Luke Williams has revealed that Conor Thomas will start against Fleetwood on Saturday.
Despite being called into the Starting XI at the very last minute after Ben Gladwin pulled out of the warm-ups with a knee injury, the midfielder went on to produce an accomplished display during the 1-0 victory against Millwall.
And, if that wasn’t enough, Thomas capped off a fine display by popping up with the winning goal in the dying seconds to breathe new life into Town’s survival hopes.
As a result, the 23-year-old will now get the chance to impress away at Fleetwood this weekend.
“The whole performance last Saturday has put Conor Thomas into my thinking,” Williams said at his pre-match press conference earlier.
“Sometimes as a footballer you have to wait and be patient because other people are doing their job and most managers wouldn’t want to make a change if players are doing well in their own position, but you would expect every player to be ready when an opportunity arrives and to do everything possible to take their chance.
“I think it is fair to say that Conor not only scored the winning goal against Millwall, but he performed very well.
“He had the best running stats in the whole team, he ran the whole distance, he ran the highest intensity distance and he scored the goal.
“Conor Thomas will be starting against Fleetwood, for sure.”
