Hard Graft Already Underway For Henry

9 May 2017

Will Henry is already getting himself fighting fit for the 2017/18 campaign as he looks to step his game up another level.

Last season proved to be full of highs and lows for the talented young stopper in what was his first year as a professional footballer.

Although currently on his break, Henry has wasted little time in putting in the hard graft as he bids to get in the best shape possible ready to hit the ground running in pre-season.

“Now the season has finished, we’ve all been given off-season programmes to follow and that has started right away,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk exclusively.

“We’ve got the right amount of rest in order to recover from the season just gone and we just need to make sure we’re as fit as possible and in the best possible shape for when we start pre-season.

“You’ve always got to be doing your best, working hard and proving that you’re good enough to play.

“That’s definitely my mindset and I just want to be in the best shape possible in the off-season so that I can give myself the best possible chance coming into pre-season.

“Last season was definitely an experience for me. A lot of good came out of it and a lot of bad came with the good but that is football at the end of the day and that is something you have to deal with.

“To experience those types of situations is only going to help me moving forward, especially at my age, so hopefully I can progress, develop and really kick-on.

“There are areas of my game that I can work on but that is the same for everyone so I like to keep working on everything because you can always improve in every aspect of your game.”

Pre-season will be a fresh start for everyone at The County Ground with Town currently on the lookout for a new manager, and Henry is well aware that it will also be a clean slate for the players.

“Things change in football all the time and there will obviously be a new manager coming in now, so everyone has to work hard and make sure that they do their best,” he added.

“Everyone needs to push hard for a place in the team and I’ll certainly be doing that.”
