BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Forest Green Rovers V Swindon Town

Your Essential Guide To Tonight's Game

22 September 2017

Swindon Town will be looking to impress in-front of the Sky Sports cameras when they take on Forest Green Rovers tonight (7:45pm Kick-Off).

Dave Flitcroft's side will arrive at The New Lawn Stadium looking to make it two wins on the bounce following their 3-2 victory against Stevenage last time out.

Rovers, on the other hand, will be looking to build on the 1-1 draw they secured away at Port Vale last weekend.

LAST TIME WE MET:

Goals from Jon-Paul McGovern, Hasney Aljofree and Blair Sturrock secured a 3-2 win and safe passage into the Third Round of The FA Cup for Town back in December 2007, with Stuart Fleetwood and Mark Beesley on target for Rovers.

ONE TO WATCH:

Christian Doidge was in fine form for Forest Green last season, firing in 27 goals to help them clinch a historic promotion to the EFL.

Those exploits earned him a brand new contract in the summer and he's a vital figure for his side.

Doidge has helped himself to two goals so far this term and he'll be hoping to show what he's made of in-front of the Sky cameras tonight.

TOP SCORERS:

FOREST GREEN ROVERS - Christian Doidge/Omar Bugiel (2)

SWINDON TOWN - Luke Norris (6)

TEAM NEWS:

FOREST GREEN only have the one injury concern ahead of tonight's game with Manny Monthe ruled out with a thigh injury.

However, new signing Isaiah Osbourne, who was once on the books at Aston Villa, is expected to go straight into the matchday squad for this evening's fixture.

TOWN will be without Dion Conroy who is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with cruciate knee ligament damage.

Donal McDermott is available again after serving a three-match suspension and John Goddard and Kyle Knoyle could both be involved after returning from long injury lay-offs.

A WORD FROM BOTH CAMPS:

Mark Cooper, Forest Green Rovers Manager: "I have no axe to grind with Swindon now and after Friday I wish them all the best.

"I want to get three points and get us up and running and up the table and the fact we're playing Swindon makes no difference to me."

Dave Flitcroft, Swindon Town Manager: "Forest Green have got two very big boys upfront and there is a direct style and approach to what they do when the two giants play.

"They get it forward to them very early and play off that point but we've also seen with Mark's (Cooper) team that when they open you up they can play and move the ball quick as well through the pitch.

"We're expecting a real tough encounter and it is one we're looking forward to.

"The team are prepared for the next challenge."

Luke Norris, Swindon Town Striker: "At the end of the day it is another game of football and it is another three points up for grabs.

"Three points is what we want to come away with.

"We've been very strong away from home and we're hoping that continues tonight."
