BREAKING: Town Bring In Preston

Reds Bolster Their Defensive Options

25 September 2017

Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of Matt Preston on a free transfer.

The defender has signed a deal until the end of the 2017/18 campaign, subject to EFL and FA approval.

Town have been able to bolster their squad with this addition outside of the transfer window due to the fact that the 22-year-old was out of contract.

Preston, who made just shy of 50 appearances for boyhood club Walsall, will add to the defensive cover at the club in the central area with Dion Conroy sidelined with a long-term injury.

Speaking exclusively to swindontownfc.co.uk after completing his switch, Preston revealed that he can't wait to get his new challenge underway with The Reds.

"It took a while to find the right club for me but I can tell already from just one training session that this is a good group of lads," he said.

"I'm raring to get going now.

"I've played against Swindon a few times now and I know a few of the lads that were here. I know the Gaffer here likes to develop players and that was a big factor in attracting me to come here.

"My number one aim is to play and when I do play to play as many games as I can and stay in the team."

Preston will wear shirt number 4 during his time with the club.
