Flitcroft - We Are Ready For Forest Green Clash

Gaffer Looks Ahead To Tonight's Big Game

22 September 2017

Swindon Town Boss Dave Flitcroft says his side are prepared and up for the challenge ahead of tonight's Sky Bet League Two clash against Forest Green Rovers.

The Reds head to The New Lawn later (7:45pm Kick-Off) for what is their first-ever league meeting with the EFL newcomers, and the showdown will be shown live on Sky Sports.

There is plenty of attention on tonight's game with former Town Boss Mark Cooper now in charge of Rovers, but Flitcroft is confident that his team will focus on the task at hand following a hugely productive week on the training ground.

"Any League Two team offer a real challenge and a real threat," he told the local press at his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

"Forest Green have got two very big boys upfront and there is a direct style and approach to what they do when the two giants play.

"They get it forward to them very early and play off that point but we've also seen with Mark's (Cooper) team that when they open you up they can play and move the ball quick as well through the pitch.

"We're expecting a real tough encounter and it is one we're looking forward to.

"We've been working all week on what we're good at and what we are going to become very good at.

"We've been putting in a lot of miles on the training ground and we are going to be really focused on and concentrated on what Swindon Town can offer in this match.

"We are going to be making sure that we are on point and the players have had a real focus and a real concentration this week.

"It has been a very good preparation for the game."

"We've been putting in a lot of miles on the training ground and we are going to be really focused on and concentrated on what Swindon Town can offer in this match.

Tonight's game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports but Flitcroft has vowed that his troops won't be getting distracted by all the additional hype around this fixture.

"We are absolute perfectionists and we haven't done anything differently. We have kept the same methodical approach to what we do and the lads have bought into the detail we are trying to get into the team more and more," he added.

"It is another game that we're preparing for, 11 v 11 and we've done our work this week.

"This team are prepared for our next challenge."
