Forest Green Rovers V Swindon Town - Five Key Storylines

We've Picked Out A Handful Of Things To Keep An Eye Out For Tonight

22 September 2017

Swindon Town return to Sky Bet League Two action tonight when they make the short trip to Forest Green Rovers (7:45pm Kick-Off).

We've picked out five key talking points to keep an eye out for this evening...

LIVE ON THE SMALL SCREEN:

Tonight's fixture will be televised live on Sky Sports and it will give both teams the chance to showcase their talents to a much wider audience.

There is plenty of hype surrounding the fixture, mostly due to Rover's fairytale rise from non-league to the EFL and the fact that former Town Manager Mark Cooper will be in the home dugout tonight.

However, Dave Flitcroft's side will be ignoring the fuss and concentrating on the job at hand as they look to make it two wins on the bounce.

GAME OF FIRSTS:

This evening will see Town and Forest Green do battle for the very first time in the league and it is set to be a historical night at The New Lawn.

And the last and only competitive meeting between the two teams came way back in 2007, with goals from Jon-Paul McGovern, Hasney Aljofree and Blair Sturrock securing a narrow 3-2 win in the Second Round of The FA Cup for The Reds.

NORRIS THE HOTSHOT:

It has certainly been a stunning start to the season for Luke Norris who looks a different player from the 2016/17 campaign.

The hitman has six goals to his name so far this term but it is not just hitting the back of the net where he has impressed, with Norris' all-round game also catching the eye.

Norris has really upped his game in the last few weeks as well, contributing four goals and two assists in his last four outings.

He's certainly in a rich vein of form and he'll be looking to keep that going at The New Lawn tonight.

ROBBO'S CHANCE:

Town were dealt a hammer blow earlier this week with the news that talented centre-back Dion Conroy is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, that now paves the way for summer signing Chris Robertson to showcase his ability across a regular run of games.

Having featured every now and then so far this term, Robbo will be looking to grasp his chance with both hands and form a rock solid partnership with Olly Lancashire at the heart of the defence.

AWAY COMFORTS:

Town have been excellent on the road so far this term and they currently lie second in the Sky Bet League Two away table.

Dave Flitcroft's side have only lost once away from home in the league, scoring six goals and conceding just two in the process.

The Reds have looked a lot more solid and compact when playing on the road, while they can also pick teams off on the break as seen in the impressive 3-0 victory against Luton earlier this month.

Fingers crossed for more good times on the road tonight!
