Brown Big Fan Of Checkatrade Trophy

Gaffer Looks Ahead To Chelsea Tie

7 August 2018

Swindon Town Boss Phil Brown has given his support to the Checkatrade Trophy ahead of tonight's fixture against Chelsea's U21s.

The Reds will get their Southern Group C campaign underway later (7:45pm) against the Blues' Development Side at The Energy Check County Ground.

And, with some players set to be given some much-needed game time this evening, Brown is a huge advocate of the tournament.

"I think continuity is key and momentum is also important," Brown said.

"The feel-good factor and the spirit that was created by the players on Saturday was one of the main reasons for the win, so I don't want to disrupt that at all.

"We've trained and we've gone through how we think the opposition will play.

"I take this competition very seriously and I think the Checkatrade Trophy is a fantastic competition.

"It is one that can get your season up and running if you can get through the group stages and through to the latter stages.

"It is a reason to play a strong team and you can also pitch yourself against the best youngsters in the country."
