Ahead of our trip to Lincoln City, Neil Macdonald reveals that the Robins almost have a clean bill of health for the first away game of the season.
Macdonald said: “We’ve almost got a full squad – obviously Kyle Knoyle came off with an injury. That’s still ongoing and he’s responding OK. He felt a slight tightness in his hamstring on Tuesday so we brought him off. He’s a doubt for Saturday. Everyone else is fine really.
“We can play anybody we like at right-back so a couple of options but figures crossed Kyle can make it but if not we’ve got a couple of options.”
Macdonald was upbeat about the side’s chances but knows the threat that Lincoln pose.
“It’s difficult because they’re very good at what they do. We know what we’re up against, we have a very good idea of what their team is and what their tactics will be - we’ve got to stand up and counter it. When we get the ball we’ve got to play, we can’t get drawn into playing as they do – sometimes that is difficult because they close you down and they’ve got the physical aspects.
“We showed against Macclesfield that we were prepared to get the ball down and pass it against a big team – and we’ve just got to do it against a bigger team on Saturday.”
Since coming in, Macdonald listed the hard work that the squad has put in during pre-season has the main reason he’s loved his time so far at the County Ground.
I’ve enjoyed myself – the boys have worked very, very hard over the pre-season, taken a lot of information in and processed that information on Saturday. To show team spirit and resilience already is every credit to the players.
