VIGOUROUX: WE'RE LOOKING UP THE LEAGUE

7 December 2018

Lawrence Vigouroux says the team are looking upwards after two league wins on the bounce, as fourth-placed Newport County visit the Energy Check County Ground in League Two.

Vigouroux has been in fine fettle of late and spoke about the difference in mood around SN1 since they’ve picked up two victories on the trot in their league outings against Port Vale and Stevenage.

“I was speaking to Kyle (Knoyle) after the Carlisle game because he drove me back home – I was saying to him that we’re playing Saturday and Tuesday – win both and we could be four points off the play-offs again.

“You never know – and if you look now we’ve won two in a row and we’re a couple of points off it. After Carlisle, it was ten. Nothing is won in December so it’s just making sure we’re in and around the pack seeing if we can pick up some points along the way over Christmas.

“I feel like you can’t get too down when you lose – I know it’s awful and the fans can get on your back but I just feel like if you can  turn it around the next time. If you look at the difference after we beat Stevenage at home – how much joy was there everywhere?

“We’ve just gone from looking down to looking up – we’ve got to keep our heads screwed and not get too high or too low; that’s the most important thing.

Swindon are not short of goalkeeping options this season – the experienced Luke McCormick was brought in at the start of the season; something that the Chilean international said has done nothing but advance his own game.

“Macca (Luke McCormick) is a brilliant professional – he trains unbelievably every single day. I look up to him – I can look at him and pick parts of his game that I want to implement into my game. It keeps me on my toes – you don’t play 400 or 500 game, however many he’s played, for nothing.”

Vigouroux was asked about his contract situation by the local press but simply said he is not in a rush to make a decision right now.

“I’m just been speaking to my family and people that help me behind the scenes and nothing’s really changed. I’m just concentrating on taking it a day at a time and seeing what happens. I’m not in a rush to leave the club, because I really enjoy being here. I’m not in a rush to sign right now – I just want to wait.”
