WELLENS LOOKS AHEAD TO CHELTENHAM

20 December 2018

Richie Wellens has urged his side to take their chances against Cheltenham this weekend, after they made to rue opportunities squandered against Grimsby.

The 2-1 defeat in Cleethorpes denied Swindon a fourth straight victory in League Two with Wes Thomas grabbing a goal each side of Matt Taylor’s free-kick.

Wellens’ side were the better of the two, in terms of creating chances, and the Swindon boss will hope his team can put it right

“We had some really good chances against Grimsby. Sometimes a manager can want a team to play in a certain way. But when the ball is flying in the box, you’re looking towards the people that can get in those positions.

“Elijah (Adebayo) should’ve scored his one-on-one, James Dunne should’ve scored from that rebound.

“Next week, we might take those chances and win the game 5-4.”

“Keshi and Marc (Richards) are on the grass training, but they won’t be ready for Saturday.

“They might be ready for the game after against Northampton.

“Toumani Diagouraga is back training too as is Chris Robertson, though he’s a little bit further behind.”
