BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Swindon Town V Crewe Alexandra

Your Essential Guide To Saturday's Game

26 January 2018

Swindon Town are back in action at The Energy Check County Ground on Saturday with Crewe Alexandra the visitors (3pm Kick-Off).

Dave Flitcroft's side will be looking to make it three wins in a row at home tomorrow, while they will also want to bounce back from last week's defeat to Coventry City.

Crewe will also be desperate to secure a win as they continue to try and move away from the bottom of the table, a mission which wasn't helped by a 3-2 loss to Wycombe Wanderers last time out.

LAST TIME WE MET:

An attacking display full of energy and flair by Town was rewarded with an emphatic 3-0 win at Gresty Road in December 2017.

Kaiyne Woolery, Amine Linganzi and Luke Norris were on target for the visitors in what was their final game before Christmas.

ONE TO WATCH:

Shaun Miller returned to Crewe on loan until the end of the season earlier this week, five-and-a-half-years after first leaving the club.

The striker, who rose through the Academy ranks at Gresty Road, has been well-travelled in recent seasons having represented the likes of Sheffield United, Coventry and Morecambe.

However, there is no doubting Miller's quality at this level and Crewe will be hoping that he's able to mark his second debut in style tomorrow.

TOP SCORERS:

SWINDON TOWN - Luke Norris (12)

CREWE ALEXANDRA - Chris Porter (12)

TEAM NEWS:

SWINDON TOWN will be able to welcome Timi Elsnik back into the fold after the midfielder resumed training this week following a lay-off with a hamstring injury.

Elsnik, who has been impressive during his loan spell at SN1, is expected to be involved in tomorrow's game.

However, the fixture will come too soon for Amine Linganzi, Donal McDermott and Chris Hussey, while Dion Conroy remains on the long-term injury list.

CREWE ALEXANDRA could hand Shaun Miller a second debut after signing the striker on loan from Carlisle United in the week.

Leading scorer Chris Porter (ankle) and Captain Chris Dagnall (knee) will both miss out tomorrow, as will James Jones (knee).

However, loan duo Harry McKirdy and Dan Barlaser are both in contentions for their first starts for the club.

A WORD FROM BOTH CAMPS:

Dave Flitcroft, Swindon Town Manager: "Back in December the Window was shut and they had a few injuries, but they've been able to get the spine of the team stronger this month and they've brought some more players in.

"They've got different weapons in their armoury and they seem to have gone for a bit more experience with Paul Green in midfield and they've got some loan signings.

"David (Artell) has assessed where they were at and it can be difficult to change the impact sometimes when the loan window is shut, but having that window of opportunity to bring players in, to change the squad and to drive competition is something they've been able to take advantage of.

"They will be a different looking team but I think they will still play the Crewe way and they will move the ball around the pitch - that is what playing a Crewe team does reflect."

David Artell, Crewe Alexandra Manager: "We have to try and attack them and we have to make sure that we don't concede goals like we did last time.

"We have to soak up that pressure a lot better and not get done by a sucker punch here and there.

"That is not the way to be successful."
