Swindon Town are delighted to announce the signing of Ollie Banks who joins us on loan until the end of the season.
The midfielder arrives from Sky Bet League One outfit Oldham Athletic, subject to EFL and FA approval.
Banks becomes Town's first signing of the January Transfer Window and is available for tomorrow's fixture against Forest Green Rovers at The Energy Check County Ground.
The 25-year-old began his career with Rotherham United in 2011 before joining Chesterfield in 2013 following a spell in Non-League.
He made over 80 appearances for The Spireites before opting to sign for Oldham in 2016, scoring his first goal for the club against Carlisle in August of that year.
However, having found opportunities hard to come by with Athletic this term, Banks spent a short stint on loan in the National League with Tranmere and produced a string of impressive displays.
"The Gaffer said all the right things and he told me he wants me to come down and express myself and get the club back to where it used to be."
That prompted Town Boss Dave Flitcroft to actively pursue a player he's been keeping tabs on for a while and Banks is now looking forward to the challenge ahead with The Reds.
"I got the call on Tuesday and it was quite an easy decision to come to a club who has got ambition and are looking towards the right end of the table," he told iFollow STFC exclusively.
"The Gaffer said all the right things and he told me he wants me to come down and express myself and get the club back to where it used to be.
"It is a local derby this weekend and it would be a nice debut to come into!
"I looked at the table and the fixtures coming up when the Gaffer phoned me and it is all looking positive, so three points on Saturday should put us right in the mix."
Banks will wear the number 29 shirt during his time with Town.
We take on Forest Green Rovers on Saturday and tickets will be on sale right up until kick-off.
