#DeadlineDay: Goddard Departs For Stevenage

Attacker Leaves SN1

31 January 2018

Swindon Town Football Club can tonight confirm that John Goddard has left the club to join Stevenage.

The club accepted an offer for the midfielder and he has now joined Boro on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.

Goddard put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Town in the summer of 2016 after the Reds beat off competition from a number of other clubs to land the attacker from Woking.

The 24-year-old had hit over 20 goals for The Cards during the 2015/16 campaign and chose SN1 as his next destination.

Goddard was a popular figure on and off the field during his time at The Energy Check County Ground and he was held in high regard by management, staff, team-mates and fans alike.

He made 64 appearances in total for Town, scoring five goals including strikes against Mansfield Town and Bristol Rovers earlier this term.

We wish Johnny all the very best for the future and we thank him for his service to the club.
