Lancashire Reflects On Results And Looks Ahead To Break

We Catch Up With The Skipper

4 January 2018

Swindon Town Captain Olly Lancashire has given his thoughts on our recent form and our lengthy break from action.

Town closed 2017 with a win against Notts County before opening the New Year with another victory, this time away at Barnet to bounce back in style from the 5-0 defeat to Luton Town on Boxing Day.

"Four games in nine days is a tough period for anyone and to come away with three wins and to bounce back from the second-half display against Luton with back-to-back wins was very good for the boys," Lancashire told swindontownfc.co.uk.

"Everyone dug deep and everyone was feeling it against Barnet, tired minds and tired bodies, so to come away with three points was a very good result.

"Notts County haven't lost many games this season and off the back of the result against Luton there were a lot of eyes on us to put in a good performance and to get the win.

"To do that against a very good outfit in Notts County was very good.

"It was a different type of game at Barnet just two days later, we went with the same team and the lads dug deep and the lads who come on helped as well.

"If you listen to all the media at the minute everyone seems to be asking for a Winter Break and we've got our own little one, so we can use it to our advantage.

"There are quite a lot of lads who have played a lot of games so it gives them an opportunity to rest their little niggles and bruises and come back a week on Saturday feeling a lot better for it."

Lancashire took a couple of blows to the head during the win against Barnet, something he has made a habit of this season.

"It seems to be the case this season that my head is attracting elbows and things like that," he added.

"I've had an X-Ray on my teeth because I think my two front teeth might be cracked, but it is something I've done before and my teeth has taken a battering throughout my career.

"Maybe once my career is done I'll get a new set of teeth!"
